How can we help?
Scale and polish cleaning
‘Gentle’ is in our hygienists’ DNA. We perform non-invasive scaling and polishing to remove damaging plaque from your gum line. We know that even just one bad experience with your teeth being cleaned by the hygienist can be enough to put you off going again. We treat you with this in mind – we aim to help you create a positive association with getting your teeth cleaned by the hygienist, and to keep coming back for the sake of your oral health.
Airflow® tooth polishing – hardworking stain removal for your smile
Our meticulous Airflow® GBT cleaning system. This method of cleaning leaves your teeth feeling silky and polished and removes almost 100% of bacteria between your teeth.
Airflow® is a supplementary cleaning that can be added to your regular scale and polish. We highly recommend it for patients who:
- Haven’t seen the hygienist in a while.
- Have heavy plaque build-up.
- Struggle with bad breath.
- Have dental appliances like crowns, braces or veneers.
Give your gums the gift of fresh health
A 30-minute hygienist cleaning works wonders on your teeth and gums. Removing plaque is the equivalent of removing dirt and debris when you shower – you wouldn’t neglect your personal hygiene in this way, so why should it be any different for your teeth?
By removing the plaque and bacteria that build up along your gums, your mouth is left feeling fresh and healthy, helping you keep your oral hygiene in great shape.
If you present with severe symptoms of gum disease, we can refer you for periodontal treatment to tackle any serious damage to your gums. We offer a range of gum disease treatment services in-house, so you can have all the gum-related treatment you need under one roof, here in North London.
FAQs
Why is gum disease so damaging?
Gum disease is a progressive condition. Without treatment, it will worsen, and the symptoms will become more and more debilitating. Gum disease creates pockets in your gum tissue.
Once this has occurred, bacteria can reach through the pockets and attack the vulnerable roots of each tooth below, and even enter the bloodstream, affecting your heart health.
Regular hygiene cleaning helps prevent gum disease and protects you from serious health issues like bone loss, heart complications, and tooth loss.
What are the symptoms of gum disease?
Gum disease can be a challenge to spot at home, as in some instances, there are very few symptoms until it reaches an advanced stage. Your hygienist has the facilities to diagnose the very early stages of gum disease, so you can set yourself back on the right track as soon as possible.
Some common symptoms of gum disease include:
- Bleeding gums.
- Gum inflammation.
- Red and swollen gums.
- Gaps between your teeth.
- Tender gums (especially when flossing).
- Loose teeth.
How can I prevent gum disease?
Your best defences against gum disease are to:
- Attend regular hygienist visits.
- Stop smoking.
- Floss at least once daily to remove harmful food particles.
- Brush twice a day.
- Reduce your sugar intake.
- Use an electric toothbrush (which is proven to be more efficient).
